I am a fully qualified, certified and registered (RCST) biodynamic craniosacral therapist and myofascial therapist, with over 12 years of clinical practice. I trained at the International Biodynamic School of Craniosacral Therapy in Switzerland, the Upledger Institute and at the German Society of Myofascial Release Therapy, with a Dutch background.
After completing my Master's Degree in Psychology and obtaining my diploma in Remedial massage, I spent many years searching for a therapy that goes beyond the physical and was particularly drawn to integrating body and mind as I appreciated as a therapist how issues in our physical, mental, and emotional body are closely connected and impact our overall health. I found the perfect bridge in working with all these components of the body when I undertook a further extensive 3 year training with the International Institute of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy in Switzerland (Sutherland model). My diploma in Myofascial Release provides a seamless addition in my practice, allowing me to work directly and deeply with the physical body and its rich connective tissue, releasing muscular contraction, compressed & tensed muscles, fascial restrictions, and emotional memories, thereby allowing the entire body to release and unwind. Blog: more-than-our-physical-body.
I treat a wide variety of conditions and symptoms oa: headaches, migraines, back, neck and shoulder problems, knee and hip problems, whiplash, concussion, ear ringing, nerve pain, arthritis, tendonitis, chronic pain, post traumatic stress injuries, teeth grinding, jaw problems, post operative, and any kind of stress & tension related symptoms. Combining Myofascial release into my treatments, proves to be an excellent addition for cases like whiplash, TMJ, tinnitus, chronic pain and myofascial pain syndrome. My treatments address physical symptoms whilst releasing stresses and tensions deep from within the nervous system as physical and emotional blockages are dissolved.
With a deep understanding for the way the body and its nervous system operate, and the stories they hold, I also treat clients that have deeper underlying issues and imprints stored in their body, that needs to be addressed and shifted, physically and emotionally. This can manifest as various symptoms including: anxiety, chronic inflammation, chronic fatigue, multiple/ chronic pain syndrome, panic attacks, tinnitus, addiction, depression, adrenal fatigue, burn out, & sleep disorders. Here, I embark on regular sessions with clients to work with both the physical and emotional aspects of the body, addressing stress and shock responses, as well as unconscious beliefs that are held within the body due to trauma, accidents, work experiences, or life circumstances. In these sessions I combine a combination of various techniques from shadow and parts works to Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique EFT) to remove neuromuscular tension held in place by conscious or unconscious memories and emotions. Additionally, I employ practices such as neuroplasticity, embodiment exercises, guided imagery, coaching and much more to facilitate transformative healing, in an embodied custom made approach, as each client is unique.
Over the past 2 years I volunteered at the Holistic Healing Centre at the Calvary Hospital in Kogarah, where I treated palliative care patients, their beautiful carers and hard-working staff. Clients with Post traumatic stress symptoms, anxiety, depression and/or chronic and complex illnesses find great benefit in Craniosacral Therapy and describe it as the invaluable missing link on their road to recovery as CST deals with the biological stress responses and nervous system at root cause. Some clients are able to come as they have been Government approved by NDIS.
I love to travel, I am mad about good food and will travel for good food, in particular for Asian food. Yoga and meditation are part of my daily diet and in the weekends you can find me outdoors enjoying the beaches and beautiful surroundings of Sydney.
I write blogs, that get (re)posted worldwide and articles that are published in peer-reviewed magazine's like e.g. Fulcrum Magazine. (link)
